September 21, 2006 Jim story in January "Max" magazine
The Italian magazine "Max" will have a story about The Doors and Jim and Pere Lachaise in their January issue. The story will also discuss the first vinyl release in 1967. This news came via a fan who was at Pere Lachaise two weeks ago and encountered two reporters at the grave who told him about the story they are writing. I guess that I'd start looking for the January issue in December, and then look for a good-looking Italian man who can read it to me :=) (thanks, Luc)

September 19, 2006 Ray performance at Litquake <> Jerry Prochnicky book <> Ian vocals on Unkle song <> Adapt update
Ray Manzarek will be joining in a special program featuring musician-writers at this year's Litquake, San Francisco's literary festival. Ray will be onstage on October 6th, the opening night of the festival. The event is being emcee'd by Ben Fong-Torres, the rock journalist who contributed to the forthcoming "The Doors by The Doors" book due out on November 7th which helps kick off the celebrations for the 40th anniversary of the band. Author Jerry Prochnicky, who co-wrote the best-seller "Break On Through: The Life and Death of Jim Morrison" with James Riordan, has written to me to let me know that the book is being released in a new 6 x 9 trade paperback. The release date is November 7th, same date as "The Doors by The Doors." I don't have any other info at this time, but I will follow-up with Jerry and try to get more details. (thanks, Jerry)

Ian Astbury's vocals are on a new song from Unkle called "Burn My Shadow." It's part of a 4-CD box set from Unkle that was released on September 12th containing new songs as well as over 40 re-mixes of tracks for their 'Never, Never, Land' album.

Adapt was a local band in 2004 with Waylon Krieger on vocals, James Beasley on drums, and Julian Plascencia on bass guitar. After playing a bunch of shows around L.A.'s clubs, the musicians went their separate ways but I hear from them occasionally. Julian has been in Cuba continuing his musical education. September 14, 2006 Henry Diltz to open L.A. Morrison Hotel Gallery <> The Cult heading to South America <> celebrate The Doors on the Sunset Strip in November
Photographer Henry Diltz is opening another Morrison Hotel Gallery, this time in Los Angeles (where it belongs!!!) There are already Morrison Hotel Galleries in New York's SoHo and in La Jolla, California. The inaugural exhibition, "The Photography Of Henry Diltz" -- the largest retrospective of his work ever shown in L.A. -- opens with an invitation-only artist's reception on Saturday, September 30, 6-10PM. The public opening is Sunday, October 1 from 12-6PM, and Diltz will also be on hand for that. MHG is located at 7517 W. Ian Astbury and The Cult are surely on their way to Europe (maybe already there), as their next group of tour dates begins tomorrow night in Belgium and continues on to the UK for ten more shows. In December they will head south for seven shows beginning in Mexico City on December 1, and then Chile, Argentina, and Brazil through December 12th. Ray Manzarek joins rock journalist Ben Fong-Torres at the 142 Throckmorton Theatre in Mill Valley, California on October 14 for an evening of clips and conversation about their upcoming book, "The Doors by the Doors." The evening concludes with a live performance by Manzarek, Beat poet Michael McClure and virtuoso bassist Rob Wasserman.
