Two media stories about the upcoming D21C show in Mexico City can be found (in Spanish) here and here (thanks, Fer)
I have more information about the 'Break On Through' re-mix single in yesterday's news item, available for download from www.itunes.com This song, from well-known re-mixer / producer / artist BT (real name: Brian Transeau), will be the lead track in the new "FIFA-Street" videogame coming out in February on EA Sports. (thanks, Dave and Gary)
In addition to the 'Break On Through' re-mix, there are several other Doors tracks re-mixed into dance tunes that have surfaced on white label vinyl in England. Two of them are: "Troia 'vs' Morrison - When The Music's Over" and "Jim - The Poet's Dream (the movie)," backed with a re-mix of Jimi Hendrix's Purple Haze. (thanks, Gary)

September 28, 2004 Ian & MC5 re-run on TV <> Robby & The Ramones <> techno re-mix of BOT
Ian Astbury joined MC5 onstage last year at London's 100 Club, and performed MC5's signature song, 'Kick Out The Jams' A one-hour broadcast of that program is coming up again on Trio Channel on October 11th, at 5:00 a.m. and again at 10:00 a.m. (west coast time)
'Ramones Raw' was released today. This is the DVD that includes Robby playing 'Take It As It Comes' onstage with them ... Robby told me it was at the Hollywood Palladium. Robby is wearing a white tee-shirt and pink baseball cap, and really burned on the track!! I haven't watched the entire DVD yet, but there is a nice booklet and more rare and behind-the-scenes clips than any Ramones fan could have hoped for. Highly recommended!
'Break On Through (To the Other Side)' re-mix single was released today through www.itunes.com from Rhino Elektra. The re-mix, which is 7 minutes, 7 seconds in length, can be purchased for 99 cents by creating an itunes account and providing your credit card information. There is an icon on the home page for this song. (I think) the name of the album is BT vs. The Doors. To find it in itunes, search on BT. (My son tells me that BT is a pre-eminent DJ artist.) (thanks, David my son)

September 27, 2004 VERDICT !!!
On the first day of the 14th week of the trial of John Densmore, the Morrison family and the Courson family, versus Ray Manzarek, Robby Krieger, Ian Astbury, and Doors Touring Inc., the jury returned their verdicts. The reading of the verdicts began at 12:30 today. John & Leslie were in the courtroom, as were Robby, Ian, D21C manager Tom Vitorino, and D21C business manager Alan Goldman.
This was a very complex case with many issues, including claims for damages and counter-claims for damages, interpretation of many contracts and agreements spanning many years, friendships and partnerships and fiduciary responsibilities. Simply put, the jurors determined that there would be NO money or damages awarded to any of the parties. It looks like The Doors of the 21st Century have a future for as long as they want to continue to play and tour. On October 27th, the judge will give the court's verdict, which could differ from the jury's verdicts on some of the points.
Please do not contact me with questions seeking further details. The parties involved will determine what statements and details they want to make public. More information will be provided only with their consent.

September 21, 2004 links to paintings of Jim <> Iowa show has been cancelled
Artist Cynthia Weil contacted me to share some of the many paintings she has done of Jim Morrison. The following two links represent nine of them, and she has explained to me that most of the photos taken do not show entire paintings, just close-ups. There will be a link to these under 'fun stuff' on the LINKS page, for anyone who wants to look at them again later. September 20, 2004 John becomes a father-in-law <> Ian's NYC bandmates clarified
John Densmore's daughter Kelly was married over the weekend in a neighboring state. Best wishes to the Densmore family. Let's hope they enjoyed a wonderful celebration and were able to tune out to the uncertainty of waiting for the jury deliberations outcome -- now entering its third full week.
When Ian played at a fashion show after-party event last week, it was reported on www.blabbermouth.net that it was a Cult reunion. That mis-information was then corrected by the D21C webmaster. Now we know who those bandmates were: Charley Drayton (former Cult bassist) and John Squire. (thanks, Julian)

September 19, 2004 Ian in NYC and D21C Roseland news
Although it was first reported on www.blabbermouth.net that Ian Astbury took the stage with The Cult for an impromptu reunion at a fashion show's after-party early last week, that is apparently untrue. Ian may have performed, but it wasn't with members of The Cult.
It seems there were several roster changes for the Friday night Miller Brewing Co.'s 50th anniversary of Rock & Roll show at Roseland, according to D21C's "On The Road" re-cap. Both Bo Diddley and Chuck Berry dropped out of the line-up, and it sounds like Ben Folds performed 'Riders On The Storm' with the band. There are some photos at the D21C site, at: http://robbykrieger.com/doors/gallery84.htm

Ray, Robby, and producer Bruce Botnick are the subject of "Off The Record" with Joe Benson on Sunday, October 17th, featuring music of The Doors and conversation. In L.A. the show is on at 10:00 pm on Arrow 93.1 FM, but the following link lists many other major markets for this syndicated radio program: http://unclejoe.com/onair/OTR.htm

September 13, 2004 Jim in Rolling Stone
Jim Morrison made the cover of Rolling Stone Magazine (again) but this time he is part of a collage of famous rock photos. The cover story of this special issue of Rolling Stone (#958 - September 30) is about the '50 Greatest Portraits and the stories behind them." September 12, 2004 D21C at Grandstand Stage last night <> show recap
The Doors of the 21st Century played the Grandstand Stage at the L.A. County Fair last night. They came onstage just a few minutes after 8:00 and played until 10:00. There was no back screen and therefore, there was no light show and no video images projected. However, there was some simply terrific camerawork being projected on the screens that flanked both sides of the stage. Bass player Angelo has a new look: his hair is shorter and very dark in color! There will be a show writeup later today. For now, see the set list here.
A write-up about last night's D21C show at the L.A. County Fair's Grandstand Stage can be found here.

September 3, 2004 Tribaljazz CD release <> more "Juvies" screenings <> misc. DVDs with Doors tracks <> set lists added
John Densmore's long-awaited 'Tribaljazz' CD is now mentioned on the Hidden Beach website when one searches by artist name. It only says that Tribal Jazz (now, as two words?) is coming soon, so this is progress and hopefully a release date will be made known shortly.
"Juvies" - the documentary film executive-produced by Leslie Neale (Mrs. John Densmore), John Densmore and actor Mark Wahlberg, has been added to the screening schedules of numerous more film festivals in the U.S. and in Europe. All of the upcoming events that are currently listed on the Juvies website have been added to the calendar above.
I found several DVDs with Doors tracks while browsing at Tower Records today. "Rockin' In The USA" contains 22 rare TV recordings, including The Doors doing Tightrope Ride from 1972. I don't know for sure, but would bet this is from the Beat Club appearance. The link goes to a PAL version order site, but Tower had the NTSC. "The Very Best of Ed Sullivan Show, Volume 1" includes The Doors, but neither the box nor the link explain whether both song performances are included, or only one of them.
Set lists for Green Bay, Wisconsin and Clarkston, Michigan last month have been added to the Set Lists page. I'm still looking for the set list for July 31st at Summerfest in Manitoba, Canada. set lists 2004

Bo Diddley will join The Doors of the 21st Century onstage at the Miller Brewing Company's "Rock Through Time" concert at New York City's Roseland Ballroom on September 17th to perform 'Who Do You Love.' This info came from a fan who said that Ray mentioned this at the trial, which must have been early last week when I was not attending. (thanks, Jacob)
