October 26, 2002 Doors show in Las Vegas
The Doors will perform on Sunday, December 8th at 'Rain In The Desert' at Palms Resort Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada. Show time is 8:00 p.m. Venue capacity is about 1,800. Internet ticket sale begins 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 2. According to Ticketmaster, this is a 21 or older show only. Tickets are listed at $100. - $150. October 10, 2002 new magazine references & stories
U.K.'s Classic Rock magazine, September 2002 (cover: Joe Elliot of Def Leppard) has a 1/4 page story about Ian Astbury joining The Doors. read it
Total Guitar magazine, Summer 2002 (cover: Hendrix) listed the 100 Greatest Guitarists as voted on from 440 nominations. On Page 45 and listed as #86: "Robby Krieger ... Doors guitarist whose slippery lead playing was at its finest on their masterpiece Light My Fire. Not the Will Young version." Included with the story is a photo of the Waiting For The Sun cover.

October 8, 2002 George Winston's CD released
"Night Divides The Day - Music Of The Doors" by George Winston was released today. Read on-line reviews of it from www.allmusic.com (thanks, Chris) also www.amazon.com also www.towerrecords.com The Japanese release has an extra track (You're Lost Little Girl) but costs $37. according to on-line music sources.
By the way, George Winston has a Los Angeles area concert appearance on November 20th. Hopefully SoCal will get a dual piano concert with him & Ray Manzarek like they recently performed in NYC.

Guitar World, November 2002 issue has a short story about the band and line-up. Read it
Stewart Copeland was a guest on KLOS 95.5 with Mark & Brian on Wednesday morning. He was there to promote the new Best of Sting & The Police CD, but eventually got to talking about his playing with The Doors. He said it was alot of fun, and that he grew up trying to play John Densmore's drum licks. He has heard some of Ray & Robby's new music, and mentioned that Ray is really sensitive about them being considered a tribute band. Stewart said that he has never been a big Cult fan, but he is a huge Ian Astbury fan, that Ian has charisma and is a real rock star. He related that when they traveled to Toronto, he (Stewart) showed up in his Gap clothes, and Ian was in his shades and leather. Stewart said that he heard something he hadn't heard in 20 years, that is, someone said to them: "Hey, are you guys in a rock band?" Mark & Brian mentioned that they would love to have Stewart onstage at their Xmas show playing with The Doors.
