November 28, 2002      The Doors   December 8th show in Las Vegas is postponed

The Doors'  December 8th concert scheduled for "Rain In The Desert" at Palms Resort Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada has been postponed to Sunday, January 19, 2003.   This is understood to be because Stewart Copeland broke his arm.   Both Ticketmaster and Palms Resort Casino confirm this date change.   Ticketmaster says tickets are valid for the new date, or they may be refunded prior to January 6, 2003.

Consider the irony of this:   John is replaced by Stewart, for medical reasons.   Now Stewart is sidelined for medical reasons.    This is almost karmic:  it's as if only John should play with Ray and Robby on December 8th, not Stewart!   Wouldn't it be something if the Doors  kept the original date for the show, and John filled in as Stewart's replacement?  Even just for this one show on December 8th?       Oops ... there I go, dreaming again ...

November 26, 2002       USA Today mention

USA Today's Monday, November 25 issue contained a brief blurb on the front page of the Life section: THE DOORS LIGHT ANOTHER FIRE WITH REUNION    Rock legends the Doors are reuniting for the first time since shortly after the death of frontman Jim Morrison.  The new group includes original guitarist Robby Krieger and keyboardist Ray Manzarek, plus The Cult vocalist Ian Astbury and The Police drummer Stewart Copeland.  Original drummer John Densmore could not participate because of severe tinnitus.  the Doors will open at The Palms in Las Vegas on December 8, what would have been Morrison's 59th birthday.  The group plans a world tour and new album next year.   (thanks, Chris)

November 23, 2002       TV appearance "rumors" <> Bright Midnight "merchandise sale"

Rumors have crossed my path about some possible TV appearances, namely:  The Tonight Show, The Today Show, and The American Music Awards.   HOW COOL WOULD THAT BE?????    If and when I get confirmation of any of these appearances, I'll immediately post it in the calendar above.  I wonder if there is anything we fans can do to help, such as writing to NBC (www.nbc.com) (or other networks, too) and request that they book the Doors on their shows.  It is worth a shot!

Bright Midnight Records recently sent an e-mail offering many discounted items ... just in time for holiday shopping!   Read their e-mail here.
