November 30, 2005 Densmore's birthday gift to the fans
If you are John Densmore of The Doors, how do you celebrate your 61st birthday? Apparently, by finding even more ways to screw over the fans. I have learned that John has denied the sync licenses for the two new DVDs that have been awaiting release. That's right, folks. If you have been patiently waiting for the DVD releases of The Doors of the 21st Century shows in Japan in August 2003 and Buenos Aires, Argentina in October 2004 ... well, John Densmore has flipped you the bird once again. To make this even more absurd: those DVDs already had to be re-edited to remove all references to Jim Morrison and The Doors of the 21st Century. After that was completed, then the sync licenses for both DVDs are denied. Who's playing the games here? Who continues to become an even bigger jerk than before? Who continues to do whatever can be done to antagonize and disappoint the faithful fans who love the music and want to see and hear it played, regardless of who is playing drums? Who is doing everything possible to ensure that fans of the band are left with yet another bitter aftertaste about the power trip that one drummer is on?

Atlantic City's Hard Rock Cafe is adjacent to the Trump Taj Mahal, where the VH1 Decades Rock Live "A Tribute To The Doors" was filmed on August 5th. In a glass showcase opposite the box office for show tickets are 3 Washburn guitars with the signatures of everyone who played the show that night. There is a 12" x 12" black sign with white engraved letters commemorating that event, which of course, was not allowed to air, thanks to Mr. Densmore. To see a photo of one of the signed guitars and to read what the plaque said to honor that occasion, go here (thanks, Mary-Beth)

When the Dandy Warhols headlined at Hollywood's Avalon last night, frontman Courtney Taylor-Taylor took to the stage wearing a Doors tee-shirt. It was good to see all those faces on-stage together again.

John Densmore's book 'Riders On The Storm' was recently been released in a French version, as reported here on October 16th. Curiously, the book title on Fnac.com - Livres - 'The Doors, le vaisseau de cristal' literally translated to be The Crystal Ship, leading to speculation that John changed the name of his book for the French version because of that terrific touring band with the same name. Anyway, that website now indicates that the book name is 'Les cavaliers de l'orage' (exact translation of Riders On The Storm). Incidentally, the French book has a different cover than the domestic release did. (thanks, Pierre-Yves)

November 8, 2005 new Riders On The Storm dates announced <> Decades Rock Live: NOT
Riders On The Storm have announced two new tour dates. Following the December 8th concert in Honolulu in conjunction with the marathon a few days later, Riders On The Storm will perform at The Fillmore in San Francisco on Thursday, December 15th, and then the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver, B.C., Canada on Monday, December 19th. Stay tuned as more shows are added and they get ready for a busy 2006! WOO HOO
Decades Rock Live with Bonnie Raitt will be broadcast on Friday, November 18 at 5:00 pm and 8:00 pm (west coast time) on VH1 Classic channel. Don't ever forget: the honors of the premiere show were SUPPOSED to belong to "A Tribute To The Doors" ... but thanks to Mr. Densmore, the sync licenses are not being allowed and the program cannot see the light of day. In case I haven't said it lately: Thanks again for kicking the fans like that, John.

November 4, 2005 new Riders On The Storm tour dates coming
Riders On The Storm will announce new tour dates next week! The patient fans (even the impatient ones) have something to look forward to again. To the best of my knowledge, John Densmore is still not allowing the sync licenses to be issued, which would clear the way for the television broadcast of VH1's Decades Rock 'A Tribute To The Doors.' It would appear that he is still trying to keep the television viewing public from seeing how terrific this band is.
