"Boot Yer Butt!" was one of the CD box sets recommended in the December 19th issue of USA Today in a feature on 'this year's CD box-set bounty.' "(Rhino Handmade, 4, $80.) Live performances and Jim Morrison monologues from 25 venues were assembled by Doors guitarist Robby Krieger. He concentrated on rarities, including an early Back Door Man and Bo Diddley's I'm A Man. Also out: a longbox reconfiguring of the seven-CD 1999 Complete Studio Recordings set (Rhino/Elektra, $100.)

A Denver, CO area 'The Year In Music' column declared Best Divine Intervention at a Concert: Four songs into the Doors' electrifying Red Rocks set last August, Jim Morrison's new stand-in — Ian Astbury of the Cult — walked to center stage, looked toward the heavens and said, "Rain: It's all good." With that, the band — anchored by original members Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger — played "Riders on the Storm," and, as if on cue, the skies opened, pouring sheets of rain onto thousands of fans. read the whole column (thanks, Beverly)

1,000 copies only of a limited production of CDs will be recorded at The Doors of the 21st Century's New Years Eve show at the Kodak Theater. These can be ordered for later shipment, or for pickup following the show. VH1 Classic Channel re-runs the appearance from earlier this year when Robby, Ray, and Ian stopped in their studios and performed several songs along with interview segments. According to the station website at http://www.rockontv.com, VH1 Classic re-runs "Hosted Segments" several times on December 30 and December 31. It's difficult to pinpoint it any closer than the general (east coast) times listed above for those dates. (thanks, Dan M.)

"Contigo Torno-Me Real" is the title of a new Portugese book on The Doors. The ISBN # is 972-36-0685-2, author is Rui Pedro Silva, and publisher (I think) is Edicoes Afrontamento. Price is 14 Euros, which is roughly $16. - $18. USD. I don't know (yet) how to order this book ... anyone who gets more info, please let me know. (thanks, Christophe)
Warsaw Summer Jazz Days in Poland on July 16, 2004 is another unconfirmed possibility for a concert by The Doors of the 21st Century, according to Polish sources. Detailed accounts of the two Paris shows last week, at La Scene on December 8th and at Le Zenith on December 9th, are now uploaded. These are each accompanied by links to the D21C Webmaster's photos and behind-the-scenes stories called "On The Road."
BosPop Festival in Weert, The Netherlands on July 8, 2004 is a possibility for another concert by The Doors of the 21st Century, according to http://www.bospop.nl/ Apparently the actual festival occurs on the following days, but the local government has approved of the D21C concert to be held on July 8th. I'm certain that Fred will keep checking the website and interpret the latest developments for us. Ray Manzarek gave a short interview and several clips were shown on MuchMoreMusic channel several days ago. No telling if this will continue to be re-run, but their website can be checked for listings.

British performer Will Young was "rubbished" by three of the judges on the international panel for the Christmas special, World Idol. In the show, pre-recorded on Tuesday, Will represented the UK with a performance of Doors' classic 'Light My Fire.' Whilst most were impressed, some were less interested. Canadian Idol's equivalent of Simon Cowell, record boss Zack Werner, told him: "The Bee Gees doing the Doors doesn't work for me. I hate it." Polish judge Kuba Wojwodzski added: "You looked like Mr. Bean singing Jim Morrison. If I was part of the Morrison family, I'd sue you."
ICE Magazine, January 2004 (cover: Alanis Morissette) mentions the "Boot Yer Butt" release on page 8: "Rhino Handmade is busier than ever .... The previously discussed Doors box, Boot Yer Butt!!, is a four-disc, chronological account featuring 50 of the band's highest-quality -- and unreleased -- concert performances.

Set lists for the just-completed European shows have been uploaded. The set lists for La Scene and Le Zenith in Paris, Wembley Arena in London, and NIA in Birmingham, are accurate. The others were provided as the planned set lists, but probably do not represent the actual shows in Benidorm, Lisbon, and Brussels. Anyone with the actual set lists: please contact me.

December 1, 2003 artist Max Schwartz to present Jim's student film <> preview of "Temples Of Rock" show <> D21C to play Hollywood on New Years Eve
Artist Max Schwartz was Jim Morrison's UCLA room-mate, and will be appearing in Melbourne, Florida this coming weekend. In addition to reading his own unpublished poetry, there will be a showing of an experimental 15-minute class project film directed by Jim and starring Schwartz. "Temples Of Rock" was broadcast last evening on Travel Channel, got a decent preview write-up on CommercialAppeal.com. According to the show's producer, if this show fares well in the ratings, it would be expanded to include more programs. read it (thanks, Beverly)
Hollywood's Kodak Theater will be "the" place to be on New Years Eve, as The Doors of the 21st Century will ring in 2004 there. The rumors were flying earlier today and are now confirmed on the D21C news page and D21C tour dates page
