April 30, 2003 The Doors 21st Century performance on another Craig Kilborn show <> Boston Orpheum Theater show reviews added
The Doors 21st Century appear on another Craig Kilborn episode, scheduled for broadcast overnight on Thursday night / Friday morning on CBS between 12:35 - 1:35 a.m. This is the other song that was performed during their January 30th appearance but not broadcast. It is now being used on this show with other guests Matt Dillon and Randy Jackson (thanks, Artski)

April 29, 2003 Morrison family sues Robby and Ray
Jim Morrison's parents are the latest litigants to file suit against Robby and Ray (and Ian) in response to their tour and use of The Doors name, etc. A compiled page of media stories from the last few days can be read here

April 27, 2003 The Doors "unplugged" on VH-1
VH-1 Classics will begin airing on May 25th a trio of "unplugged" songs that were recorded last week when The Doors 21st Century were in NYC for their Roseland performance. There may also be some videos put into rotation on the channel.

April 22, 2003 update on John's lawsuit
John Densmore's lawsuit against Ray, Robby, Ian, and Stewart (!!) was continued yesterday until the next hearing on June 24, according to the L.A. Superior Court website. April 20, 2003 Aquarian Weekly interview with Robby <> Mojo Mag reviewed Uni Amp show; Jim's face used in novelty bra for charity
Aquarian Weekly, April 16-23, 2003 issue ran a new interview with Robby Krieger in their current issue. The story cannot be read on-line at www.theaquarian.com yet, but it is reprinted here. (thanks, Glyn)
Britain's Mojo Magazine, April 2003 issue (cover: Grateful Dead) reviewed the February 7th show at LA's Universal Amphitheater. It seems like the reviewer started out a skeptic, but by show's end was converted to the new line-up. read it (thanks, David M)
USA Today, April 3, 2003 issue (page 3D) ran a story about an on-line celebrity auction to benefit a breast cancer charity called Expedition Inspiration Take-A-Hike. Sixty celebrities designed Frederick's of Hollywood bras. The bra created by actress Susan Sarandon and her daughter Eva Amurri is one of those pictured in the print story. From the photo, it looks like it is fully decorated with sequins or rhinestones, with Jim's young lion face shown on each of the cups. Six of the bras were auctioned earlier that week and raised $40,000. The balance of the celebrity-designed bras were up for bid through April 15 at www.sothebys.com starting at $575. I was unable to find the auction results on Sotheby's site, so cannot report on what the Jim bra raised for charity. (thanks, Joe C.)

April 19, 2003 Robby Krieger interview <> 3 more shows on sale this morning
Robby Krieger was interviewed recently for Aquarian Weekly, a tri-state entertainment publication serving NY / NJ / Philly areas. That interview appears in the current edition but can be read here. I could not find where this review can be read on-line (yet), but they also have many archived interviews on-line, including one with Ray Manzarek. (thanks, Glyn)

April 18, 2003 More summer tour dates announced <> John Densmore appearance tomorrow is cancelled
The Doors 21st Century have announced 8 more tour dates. These could be the last of this summer's shows. The cities just announced are Austin, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Vancouver BC, Albuquerque, Virginia Beach, Holmdel NJ, and Wantagh NY.
John Densmore was scheduled to perform tomorrow at a poetry celebration in the L.A. area. I was notified by the organizer that John had to cancel. The event is still on, in case anyone was planning to attend.

April 17, 2003 Rolling Stone reviews the first album
The Doors' first album is reviewed in the May 1 issue of Rolling Stone (cover: Good Charlotte) on page 59 in their "Hall Of Fame" - 'The Greatest Albums Ever Made' column. April 14, 2003 KLOS radio station is promoting the Pacific Amphitheater show
The Doors 21st Century July 25th performance at Pacific Amphitheater in Costa Mesa, CA is being actively promoted by L.A.'s KLOS 95.5 radio station. They will be giving away free pairs of tickets as promotions.
The Doors 21st Century have added more tour dates for Orlando and Coral Springs, FL in May, and Clarkston, MI in June
The (unconfirmed) Japan tour dates of August 2 & August 3 are part of Japan's Summer Sonic Festival. Other bands scheduled to play include Radiohead, The Strokes, Travis, Puddle of Mudd, Blur, Blink 182, New Found Glory, Cheap Trick, Blondie, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Placebo, Datsuns, and Starsailor. The Doors 21st Century at Seattle's Summer Nights at the Pier series went on sale beginning yesterday through Ticketmaster
Life Magazine did a piece on The Doors called "Wicked Go The Doors" in their April 12, 1968 issue. Writer Fred Powledge reported that Jim Morrison "is 24 years old, out of U.C.L.A., and he appears in public and on records to be moody, temperamental, enchanted in the mind and extremely stoned on something." :=)

April 11, 2003 Ahn Trio covers 'Riders On The Storm'
Ahn Trio were the subject of an on-line review in Jetsetters magazine following a December performance in Las Vegas. The Doors connection is a cover of 'Riders On The Storm' that they performed at that show, and which is included on their CD called "Groovebox." April 9, 2003 John Densmore's lawsuit dropped ??? <> Seattle Doors show announced (but unconfirmed) <> Last Call with Carson Daly - rerun
According to Strange Days Newsletter #97, John Densmore's lawsuit against Robby & Ray over their use of The Doors name, has been dropped. (thanks, Kerry) If true, this is great news for Doors fans. However, the lack of publicity regarding this significant development leads me to suspect it may not be factual. Everyone: keep hoping!!
The Doors 21st Century will perform in Seattle's 'Summer Nights at the Pier' series on Saturday, July 19th
The Doors 21st Century appeared on NBC's Last Call with Carson Daly back on February 20th. It was scheduled for re-run the week of March 17-21, but that was pre-empted due to extended war coverage. It still has not been re-scheduled yet. April 3, 2003 John Densmore organizing benefit all-star concert <> Morrison-based Finnish movie <> Blender Magazine picks The Doors <> Drum Magazine Stewart Copeland interview
John Densmore is organizing an all-star concert for early 2004 as a major fund-raiser to benefit 'For The Arts,' a community organization dedicated to establishing a $15 million endowment fund to support programs in the Santa Monica - Malibu Unified School District. "Me and Morrison" is a Finnish movie showing at the 21st Annual Minneapolis/St. Paul International Film Festival, and will be shown on Sunday, April 6th. The local Pioneer Press calls this movie "missable" and says this: "Me and Morrison": It has promise and a captivating star, but this Finnish drama falls apart because it tries to do too many things: tell a story of the impact of drugs, of a doomed love affair, of a father/son bond, of a free-spirited waif and of one man's devotion to Doors lead singer Jim Morrison. Blender Magazine April 2003 issue (cover: Eminem) has a feature called "500 CDs You Must Own". On Page 61 of the Classic Rock section, The Very Best Of The Doors (Rhino, 2001) made the cut: Transcendental, pervy pop-rock, often imitated but rarely bettered. This double-disc compilation gathers the radio hits ("Hello, I Love You"), the lengthy wig-outs ("The End," "Riders On The Storm") and fan-friendly rarities. Best skip the organ solos, though. Standout track: "Break On Through"
Drum Magazine March/April 2003 issue (cover: Coldplay's Will Champion) has an interview with Stewart Copeland on page 17 that was apparently done in late November, when Stewart was still a member of The Doors 21st Century. It's an interesting read.

April 2, 2003 John Densmore performs as part of Earth Day poetry celebration
John Densmore will perform as part of the Freshwater Marsh Ecopoetry Celebration on Saturday, April 19 between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. at Playa Vista's Fountain Park in the L.A. area. Parking is very limited and is by permit only; carpools are encouraged, and the park is easily accessible by the Santa Monica Big Blue Bus.
