The Doors of the 21st Century played in São Paulo, Brazil at Credicard Hall on Friday evening. A fan who attended the show has provided the show's set list (thanks, Kamal) set list

The opening scene from the Apocalypse Now movie was spoofed on last night's Saturday Night Live program in a 'Fun With Real Audio' animated segment. Senator John McCain was having so much trouble trying to make a speech in support of President Bush's re-election campaign, that eventually he wigged out and was drunkenly dancing in his underwear, and he karate-chopped the mirror while a ceiling fan whirred overhead and "The End" played over the scene. (thanks to Robert for letting me know after it aired on the east coast)

Uncut Magazine Presents NME Originals "Gods of Rock" (cover: Robert Plant and others) and features a vintage story on The Cult from NME issue dated September 23, 1989, entitled 'Where Egos Dare' on pages 56 through 62.

Snoop Dogg's remix of The Doors' "Riders On The Storm" on the forthcoming Need For Speed Underground 2 game is apparently expected to, or is already, causing controversy among some Doors fans who are concerned with how Snoop Dogg will treat the song. read more

Ian Astbury joined MC5 onstage last year at London's 100 Club, and performed MC5's signature song, 'Kick Out The Jams' A one-hour broadcast of that program is coming up again on Trio Channel on November 10 and 11. See calendar above for (west coast) times.

'An American In Paris' is the title of an article written by Mike Jahn, author of the first known Doors biography. This story focuses on Jim's grave in Pere LaChaise Cemetery in Paris, but also reviews many other rock star deaths. read it

October 19, 2004 The Doors DVD releases

The Doors DVD 2-Pack: 'The Soundstage Performances' and 'No One Here Gets Out Alive' are now scheduled for release on November 16 from Eagle Vision, according to the November 2004 issue of ICE Magazine (cover: Bon Jovi). This release had previously been postponed: back in the September 2003 issue of ICE, it was going to be a 3-disc release and include 'Feast of Friends.' The October 2003 issue of ICE then reported that the release date had been re-scheduled.

Jim Morrison sang lead vocals in a supergroup in heaven on last week's Saturday Night Live program. In a Robert Smigel "Ex-Presidents" cartoon, Jim was backed by Ronald Reagan playing keyboards, Keith Moon on drums, and a duel guitar attack of Jimi Hendrix and Kurt Cobain. Reagan was ripping on Moon and Hendrix for their crappy playing. I wish I'd seen it myself! (thanks, Robert)

The Doors of the 21st Century plan another DVD release in 2005 of their August 2003 Japan show, originally broadcast by Japanese MTV. Ray Manzarek is the featured guest on LA's KCLS channel 58 on Tuesday, October 26th at 7:00 p.m. "Between The Lines" is a 30-minute show from 2003 and focuses on interviews with authors.

October 13, 2004 Miller Brewing's NYC Roseland show photos <> dance remix <> Mexico City show is sold out

Rolling Stone issue #960 dated October 28th (cover: Jon Stewart) contains a 2-page ad spread from Miller Brewing Company with photos from their 2-day concert event last month at New York City's Roseland Ballroom. This is near the front of the issue, several pages before the contents page on page 17. Meantime, Rolling Stone's on-line edition has a bunch of photos from those shows. go here

'Forget The World' is the name of another dance remix which has surfaced in the U.K. This one samples Jim's vocal from 'A Little Game' and is from John Creamer & Stephane K. The track can be pre-ordered from a shop in Liverpool, England from their website at www.3beat.co.uk (thanks, Gary)

The Doors of the 21st Century play National Auditorium in Mexico City on October 24th. I was advised by a fan there, that their show at this 10,000 seat venue is SOLD OUT! What a terrific start for the band's tour south of the border later this month! (thanks, Abel)

Actor Mario Cantone opens a solo show called 'Laugh Whore' at NYC's Cort Theater tomorrow, October 12th. Jim Morrison is one of those he 'took on' in a previous program, called "An Evening With Mario Cantone.". The actor may be best known for his recurring role on HBO's 'Sex and The City' as Anthony, the gay wedding stylist. read more

October 8, 2004 rock photography exhibit in NYC

Rock photographers Henry Diltz and Jim Marshall will share an exhibition at Henry's Morrison Hotel Gallery in New York City. The exhibit opens on Thursday, October 21st, and both photographers will be at the opening night reception between 6 pm and 9 pm. The gallery website indicates the exhibit closes on November 4th, but the press release issued today indicates the exhibit closes on Sunday, November 7th. read it

The Doors of the 21st Century upcoming show in Buenos Aires, Argentina on Wednesday, October 27th will be at Estadio Velez Sarsfield instead of Obras Sanitarias, according to several fans from South America. October 6, 2004 John in rare re-run of 'Coach' <> on-sale info for São Paulo & Rio de Janeiro

John Densmore appeared in an episode of "Coach" in 1993, which is currently in re-runs on USA channel. Episode #6.6 is entitled 'Uneasy Rider' and was first broadcast October 26, 1993. John plays Chuck, the motorcycle salesman who sells Hayden and Dauber bikes. This episode is scheduled to air at 3:00 a.m. (west coast time). Check local listings.
