April 29, 2004 DiscLive is offering the upcoming shows for sale <> Ray chatted on radio earlier tonight <> Adapt website is now on-line
DiscLive recorded the D21C New Years Eve show at Hollywood's Kodak Theater, and made the (sold out) limited edition, 3-disc recording available for pickup immediately following the conclusion of that night's show. They are back at it, offering recordings of the four upcoming D21C shows that occur over the next week: May 1 at Atlanta's Midtown Festival; May 2 at West Palm Beach's Sunfest; May 5 at NYC's Roseland Ballroom; and May 6 at Uncasville, CT's Mohegan Sun Casino. According to their site, the NYC and CT shows will be available to pick up right after the shows, as they did on New Years Eve. To order one show or all four, go here
Ray Manzarek spoke on-air this evening on New Haven's 99.1 WPLR radio. They discussed Ian's similarities with Jim, and how he's not an impersonator. The deejay talked to Ray about how great a venue the Mohegan Sun Arena is. The deejay also told Ray how great the fan response was after last April's D21C concert in Connecticut, and that the buzz and excitement lasted for weeks! (thanks, Matt)
The Adapt website is now on-line at www.adaptband.com It looks great, and contains some MP3s as well as band history, bio, tour schedule, message board, and more. Adapt features Robby Krieger's #1 son, Waylon Krieger, on vocals and guitar; James Beasley on drums; and Julian Plascencia on bass. Their next scheduled show is May 20th at Club Lingerie in Hollywood. Adapt tour dates will be included in above calendar of events. Their site says they will be opening for Puddle of Mudd and 3 Doors Down in August.

Adapt is the name of the new band project with Waylon Krieger on vocals & guitar, James Beasley on drums and Julian Plascencia on bass. Their debut show was Wednesday night at The Gig in Hollywood. Waylon Krieger is vocalist and guitarist with Adapt, a 3-piece band that also includes drummer James Beasely and bass player Julian Plascencia. Adapt played their first show last night in Hollywood at The Gig on Melrose Avenue, performing all original songs. In attendance at this debut show (besides yours truly) were Mom & Dad, Lynn & Robby Krieger; Waylon's grandfather Stu and his wife; D21C manager Tom Vitorino, D21C Webmaster Artski and his wife; and D21C drummer Ty Dennis. "Rapture Riders" got mentioned in the May 2004 issue of ICE (cover: Lenny Kravitz). I first heard this last Friday, when Blondie were an in-studio guest on an L.A. radio station. According to ICE: "... just the tip of the iceberg of the mash-up phenomenon, which has been going on for years in the U.K. underground. D21C's Webmaster posted this news update yesterday at http://robbykrieger.com/doors/doorsnews.htm : April 18, 2004 10:20am Just five more days until the band starts their 2004 World Tour in Minneapolis, MN. For those of you attending the upcoming shows, at rehearsal yesterday there was definitely a new vibe in the air. Everyone is giving 150% at making this years shows even better than last year, and its obvious that they are eager to start playing again. They have added some more songs to the set list, and are planning on changing the shows from night to night. Still no word on where the shows will be in June and August, but I have been promised that there are a lot of shows in the works.
Robby Krieger is one of the celebrity players in the 1st Annual Hack n'Smack, Kerry Daveline Memorial, Celebrity Golf Tournament on Monday, April 26th at El Caballero Country Club in Tarzana, California. This event is in support of the Melanoma Research Foundation. (thanks, Beverly) more info

Rapture Riders is an extended dance mix of Blondie's "Rapture" blended perfectly with "Riders On The Storm" along with a few other Jim drop-in lines. I heard this for the first time today when Blondie were the guest on L.A. radio station 103.1 ... I dare to hope that I'll hear this at Blondie's sold-out performance tonight at the L.A. House of Blues, but probably not. April 11, 2004 Jim reference on "The Osbournes" <> Doors question used in today's Sunday "Parade" magazine section
Jim's hairstyle was used as a point of reference on the most recent episode of "The Osbournes". Jack was going for his first (and long overdue) haircut in two years. The hair stylist suggested a 'modified Jim Morrison -- kind of short, but still long' which Jack agreed to. The resulting haircut was a vast improvement in Jack's look, but he'll never be mistaken for Jim!
"Parade" is a Sunday newspaper supplement section. Today's 'Personality/Parade' page includes this question: Q: "My son says Jim Morrison named The Doors after the phrase 'When one door closes, another one opens.' I say the rock band was named after a book. Who is right? Harold Deaver, Philadelphia, PA A: You are. Morrison named his band after Aldous Huxley's 1954 book about hallucinogenic drugs, The Doors of Perception, which in turn refers to a line in a poem by William Blake.

April 3, 2004 more U.S. and Canada shows are awaiting confirmation
The Doors of the 21st Century are going to have a busy year of touring, according to http://robbykrieger.com/doors/doorsnews.htm In addition to the newly confirmed early May shows at Mohegan Sun in Connecticut and Roseland Ballroom in New York City, the D21C news page suggests that there will be 10 or 15 more shows in June before the band heads to Europe, including St. Louis, Oklahoma City, Albuquerque, and many more, with possibly at least one more Canadian show.

April 1, 2004 more screenings are scheduled of "Juvies"
"Juvies" is the latest documentary film from Leslie Neale & John Densmore and actor Mark Wahlberg. The film chronicles the journey of Los Angeles area adolescents as they make their way through the criminal justice system. The film has already had screenings and received an award.
