June 29, 2006 content
of forthcoming box set
The Doors manager Jeff Jampol posted on
the
Lizard Lounge on Monday morning regarding the tentative list of alternate
takes and outtakes to be included in the forthcoming box set. Since
that post, there has a mind-numbing barrage of feedback with questions,
criticism and constructive criticism, kudos and thanks, complaining, arguing,
good ideas and bad ideas, suggestions and minutiae regarding the proposed
content posted on that Lizard Lounge thread. Based on later posts, the manager indicates the original
tentative listing
may be subject to revision based on the fan comments and feedback. To read the
original post and then follow the link to the entire ongoing discussion,

June 28, 2006 Robby &
Constantine photo <> Angelo Barbera gig
Robby Krieger performed 'Light My Fire'
and 'Break On Through'
with Constantine Maroulis (from American Idol) at the awards dinner on
Monday night, following a day of charity golf at the Jack Nicklaus Ruby Hill
Golf Club in Pleasanton, California benefiting the Jeremy Brigham
"Make A Difference
Foundation." Prior to the performance, Constantine
gave an introductory speech that expressed great respect and admiration for
Robby, adding that he was honored to be singing with the man who wrote the songs
that inspired him to become a vocalist!

June 25, 2006 Robby is
golfing for charity tomorrow
Robby Krieger is confirmed as a
participant in
tomorrow's charity golf event at the Jack Nicklaus Ruby Hill Golf
Club in Pleasanton, California benefiting the Jeremy Brigham "Make A Difference
Foundation." According to the information at the following link, it
looks like Robby is part of the entertainment, too. Someone named
Constantine Maroulis from American Idol is apparently a huge Doors fan, has been
known to perform a Doors cover song or two live in concert, and is also pictured
as one of the entertainers ... so that pairing looks inevitable!
Lucky golfers and awards dinner attendees!!! I might even end up with
some pictures from the event to share. For more info or to see the photos, go to:

June 23, 2006 The
Doors will receive a star
Congratulations are in order for The
Doors,
who are among the entertainers who have been selected by the
Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to receive a star on the Walk of Fame in 2007.
Also voted in is Dick Wolf, who is hopefully busily working on that documentary
on the band which was originally announced for late 2006 release, and is now
scheduled for sometime in 2007 (the last I heard, anyway). The exact
ceremony date will not be known until much later. All surviving members of
a band are required to agree to attend the ceremony. To see all the 2007
recipients, go to:

1984 photo of 8512 Santa Monica Boulevard
There have been a lot of photos of
Benvenuto Cafe posted on this site over the last 4 months or so, as I
followed the construction and renovations at the Italian restaurant that has
occupied the building at 8512 Santa Monica Boulevard for 14 years.
Happily, Benvenuto is now re-opened for business. For a period of time
(and I don't know the dates), the building was a gay and lesbian community
center. My friend Mark Furcick has sent along a photo of that building
that he took himself in 1984 when it was clearly undergoing some type of
transition! This was many years after it was no longer The Doors office
and rehearsal space / workshop. (thanks, Mark) 1984

Vince Treanor is going to be in the
Freedom Man Chatroom
at

this Saturday, June 10th at 13:00 GMT. Don't quote me on

would make this chat at 5:00 a.m. west coast, 8:00 a.m. east coast U.S. times.

Robby on Particle DVD release <> Robby on another Pink Floyd tribute <> Robby
the golfer
Robby Krieger appears on an upcoming
DVD release from Particle, called 'Transformations-Live.' The
performance is from February of this year, when he joined Particle at their show
at the Fonda Music Box in Hollywood for a jam on one of their songs, and then
"L. A. Woman." According to Amazon.com, the release date is July 18th.
In more Robby news, he appears on another Pink Floyd tribute CD called "Return to the Dark Side of the Moon: A Tribute to Pink Floyd." It was released on May 16 on the Cleopatra label. This is not to be confused with the other Pink Floyd tribute "The Wall" that came out last September, also from Cleopatra. (thanks, George)
One more Robby story: last year he participated in a charity golf event at the Jack Nicklaus Ruby Hill Golf Club in Pleasanton, California benefiting the Jeremy Brigham "Make A Difference Foundation." There are several photos of him in the website gallery, including a few with him and his guitar ... it looks like he did a little entertaining with the other golf participants. He also played in the event in 2004. There is an unconfirmed rumor that Robby will be golfing in this year's event on June 26th.
