In the world of rock n' roll photographers, there are none as extraordinary as Jim Marshall and Henry Diltz. The Morrison Hotel Gallery is proud to host the first exhibit of these two men together. For over 40 years, their works have graced hundreds of album covers and have been featured in books, magazines, and newspapers. Marshall and Diltz both started in the early 1960's. The rapport they have each developed with their musician friends has enabled them to capture the candid shots that convey a rare feeling of trust and intimacy with their subjects.

Jim Marshall and Henry Diltz met at the Monterey Pop Festival. Their friendship grew as they each developed their own unique artistic style, producing powerful photographic essays of Woodstock; The Beatles; The Rolling Stones; The Doors; Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young; Jimi Hendrix; and scores of other legendary artists. Both men continue their distinguished careers, generating new and vibrant photographs to inspire the rock n' roll fan in each of us.

The New York premiere will feature the iconic images of Marshall and Diltz, as well as rare unpublished photographs. The exhibit will provide access to a personal visual documentary of rock n' roll's greatest musicians.

Jim Marshall and Henry Diltz will be attending the opening night reception on Thursday, October 21, between 6 pm and 9 pm. Admission to the exhibit is free, and the photographs are available for purchase.
