I was born and raised with two older sisters on a small farm in Three Bridges, New Jersey, on the outskirts of Flemington (in Hunterdon County). I'm a Capricorn, like Robby ... born 369 days later.

Flemington's claim to fame is for being the site of the trial in the early 1930's which convicted Bruno Richard Hauptmann of the kidnapping and murder of the infant son of famed aviator Charles Lindbergh. My grandfather worked for the Sheriff's office, and spent a great deal of time guarding Hauptmann during that trial. My mother was a teenager, and on two occasions she cut school to attend the trial. She began collecting Lindbergh trial memorabilia; 70 years later, hers is probably the largest private collection in existence on that subject.

A serendipitous offer of tickets from a friend resulted in my best friend Pat and I having the opportunity to see The Doors in Asbury Park, New Jersey on August 31, 1968. That was a pivotal event for me. After that first show, I saw them four more times in concert. There were no Ticketron or Ticketmaster networks, no internet, and no sure fire method for learning about tour dates back then, so I resorted to calling Elektra Records in NYC periodically for news of upcoming shows in the NY/NJ/PA area. I wish I remembered the name of the nice lady in their promotions department. She came to know me by name due to my repeated calls, and was so helpful to me in my urgent quests for Doors tour news.

Those Doors concert experiences led me into a life-time of dedication as a passionate fan and a collector of all things Doors. I guess I inherited the 'collector gene' from my mother.

Another lucky opportunity in 1982 for a job transfer brought my teenage son David and I from New Jersey to southern California: Doors country WOO HOO!!!!!!

Years of faithfully attending shows and personal appearances by the surviving band members eventually paid off with familiarity with Robby and Ray. I am still working to know John; I wish there were more personal appearances and opportunities to see him perform.

I had been sharing my Doors news, reviews, and enthusiasm with a number of friends through e-mails and phone calls. In July 2002, my friend Glyn conceived and created the L. A. Woman Confidential website for me. With help from Beverly and Nik, I went live on-line on August 1, 2002. The rest (as they say) is history.

What excellent timing that was, as it coincided with the buzz about the band's reunion for the Harley-Davidson 100th Anniversary Celebration in Fontana in early September 2002. Sadly, fans did not get the full reunion of The Doors we had hoped for, but we did get The Doors of the 21st Century. The ensuing news stories and controversy, additional shows, tours and reviews, plus the lawsuits, have kept me pretty darn busy ever since trying to keep up!

The Doors will always be my all-time #1 favorite band, but there are other faves who have helped to fill my years with music: David Bowie. Elvis Costello. Roxy Music/Bryan Ferry. The Stranglers. Johnny Cash. Dramarama/John Easdale. The Kinks. Iggy Pop. NYC bands like Mink DeVille, Velvet Underground/Lou Reed, Patti Smith, Blondie, Ramones, David Johansen, and Talking Heads. And Jeff Buckley, who - as it turns out - was in the same 1984 high school graduating class as my son, David!
