A few weeks ago, I posted information about The
StoryMakers Studio programs at the Chinese Theatre and in particular their
15th Anniversary celebration of "The Doors".
For those of you who missed it, it was a remarkable
night. Through interviews taped in front of a live audience, The StoryMakers
Studio tells the story of how a particular film got made by the people who
made it.
Their interviews are with Hollywood's biggest, brightest
directors, actors, writers and producers LIVE AND UNSCRIPTED.
Here are just a few comments from people who attended the
"Doors" event:
"It was great, I ve been to a couple of events from you
and I love it."
- J. Berlanga
"It was a once in a lifetime experience to be close up
and seeing another chapter in the Jim Morrison story take place. The
greatest moment was when I was able to shake hands with possibly the
greatest film director of our time, Oliver Stone. Thank you for allowing my
wife and I to experience this."
- S. Bain
"I thought that it was an awesome event. There were some
good questions asked to the panel of guests as well as funny and interesting
responses. As a musician and actor seeing Val Kilmer, Oliver Stone and John
Densmore was an awesome experience. It was a night I will remember.
thanks."
- J. Bond
The real goal of StoryMakers Studio presentations are all
about bringing together a community of film fans to explore the "story
behind the story" of great films as they did with "The Doors".
The program's host, Gordon Meyer, asked me to post the
following from him:
We are not professional producers, and we are not out to
make a gazillion bucks.
What we are about is bringing filmmakers and film lovers
closer together in an interesting, informative, and hopefully entertaining
dialogue.
So, we started thinking, if this really is all about the
community, shouldn't you have a say in the programming choices?
We have had the last screening for 2006 and we are
working on the lineup for 2007. That's where you come in.
What movies would you like to have the "Story Behind the
Story" told?
Would you rather see Quentin Tarantino be interviewed
about PULP FICTION or Spike Lee about DO THE RIGHT THING?
Would you rather get a chance to meet Matthew
McConnaughey in a screening of A TIME TO KILL or Richard Gere in a
retrospective of PRETTY WOMAN?
Would you rather see Harrison Ford in THE FUGITIVE or
Sean Connery in A BRIDGE TOO FAR?
These are some of the movies that we're considering for
the 2007 season. And, we would like you to be part of the decision making
process.
We would like to invite you to join our Inner Circle.
We had a lot of Idafan.com's supporters attend our
"Doors" event and think you'll enjoy many of our other programs in 2007. You
might like to give a gift to yourself and maybe a friend this year.
We're only offering our Charter Memberships for the next
five days.
Tuesday, December 26 at midnight, membership closes for
the 2007 year.
That's because bright and early Wednesday morning, we
want to get going on the planning for 2007.
Membership is also limited to the first 100 people who
respond. We can't let this group get too large or else the decision making
process will be too unwieldy and your opinions will get diluted. But
because you're one of Ida's visitors, we have an extra special offer for
you.
The first 20 people from Ida's site to become Charter
Inner Circle members will also get a copy of John Densmore's new "TribalJazz"
album at no charge, courtesy of The StoryMakers Studio and Hidden Beach
Records.
So, whether you are giving to a friend who already
attends The StoryMakers Studio events or introducing someone to the
community, the gift is sure to please.
to accept your membership.
I need you to know that the memberships are limited to
the first 100 people who accept – and as we did a trial mailing to just 100
people this weekend we only have 70 remaining, so if you are interested in
helping to shape The StoryMakers Studio I suggest you act quickly.
I look forward to working with you,
Gordon Meyer
