The Doors 21st Century To Film New York Show For DVD

THE DOORS 21ST CENTURY will perform the seminal L.A. Woman album in its entirety Sunday, August 24 at the group's Jones Beach show in Wantaugh, NY. This event will mark the first time L.A. Woman has been played live, since Jim Morrison passed away shortly after the album's 1971 release. The group--known for their unique and commanding blend of rock, blues and psychedelic spirituality--will also mount a special concert December 9 at the Zenith in Paris to celebrate Morrison's 60th birthday (born December 8, 1943).

In addition to L.A. Woman--which includes the hit title track, "Love Her Madly," "Changeling," "WASP (Texas Radio and the Big Beat)" and "Riders On The Storm"--fans in attendance at the New York show can expect to hear classic songs from the band's pioneering body of work. The entire New York concert will be filmed for a DVD release early next year.

Led by founding members and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees RAY MANZAREK (keyboardist) and guitarist ROBBY KRIEGER plus singer IAN ASTBURY, the band continues to appeal to a diverse audience that comes together to celebrate the power of music.

In a review of the band's recent Southern California concert at the Pacific Amphitheatre, the Orange County Register (July 28, 2003) noted: "In an era when tasteless, radio-driven drivel rules the day, or everyone is trying to out-cool one another, the Doors of the 21st Century have brought an essential ingredient back to the concert stage: fun. Jim would be proud."
