A DVD release chronicling the unforgettable life of punk
godfathers the Ramones will be available via Image Entertainment
Sept. 28. Ramones Raw documents the trail-blazing career of four kids
from Queens who would grow up to change the face of music forever. Ramones Raw includes more than five hours of rare TV appearances, backstage pranks, audio commentary from Johnny and Marky and 20 live performances, including the band performing the Doors’ “Take It As It Comes” with guitarist Robby Krieger at the Hollywood Palladium in October 1992 and a 27-minute live performance in Italy that has not been seen since its original broadcast on European TV in 1980. Other clips include moments with Debbie Harry and Chris Stein of Blondie, U2, Drew Barrymore and Carly Simon.
Packaging for the DVD includes an eight-page booklet and a back-cover caricature of the Ramones by artist Tony Squindo (designer for Metallica and the Misfits), with art direction by John Cafiero. A special limited edition will be released featuring a simulated black leather texture packaging with a red foil seal.
Produced and directed by Ramones aficionado John Cafiero, Ramones Raw will be screened at London’s independent Raindance Film Festival from September 30 through October 10.
