(06/03/03) -- Well, that's one lawsuit settled against
the Doors, only fifty more to go!
Although I'm exaggerating, the truth is that the newly reunited Doors 21st
Century still have a lot on their plate. Either way, I'm sure they're glad they
got the former Police drummer Stewart Copeland's nagging lawsuit out of their
way. Earlier this year Copeland sued the two surviving members of the Doors for
breach of contract, claiming that founding members Ray Manzarek and Robby
Krieger broke a promise to utilize his talents for the tour and upcoming studio
albums. And though the suit was settled between the parties, terms of the deal
were not disclosed: "They're a great group and you should go see them," Copeland
told Billboard.com. "[Lead singer] Ian Astbury is really charismatic." In a
statement, Manzarek said, "We're glad we were able to resolve this matter, and
we wish Stewart all the success in the future." I'm sure with his settlement
money he'll be just fine. We'll keep you posted on more lawsuits against the
Doors in the coming months.
